The new unibody keyboards, are they painted or just black plastic?

My keyboard has gotten dirty with finger oil and I want to clean it with isopropyl alcohol. Will this hurt the finish of the keys/ aluminum in any way?

Black Plastic. Who paints keyboards? I'm pretty sure everyone just uses colour plastic because it last longer.

Will the new unibody's black keyboard show glossy marks upon usage after a while? (IE. The black macbook has those oil/gloss look on the keyboard after usage). It's ugly. It shows which keys I used the most. But most of all, the glossy/used keys don't match the "barely-used" keys such as Q or Z.

I'm sure apple thought about that and i'm also sure it will last you a couple of years before it starts wearing off.

Yes - this happens on every matte keyboard in existence, regardless of manufacturer.

The only ones where this won't happen are the glossy, sealed kb's which can be found in some of the Toshiba, HP and Asus models among others.

The MB/MBP keys are molded plastic - much easier to control production costs and QA this way.

They get glossy from the grease on your fingers.

Yes try to clean them up with the microfiber cloth you got with the laptop. It will go away.

Oh, Right. I forgot. It's oil from your fingers.
