That Depends on how big the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is, whether it's a 120GB or 160GB or 200GB. Musics files are about 5-10MB (0.005GB) each, and Sims2 would be about 2-3GB and more if you install expansion packs.

bear in mind OSX takes up about 5-10GB so you really have about 65-70GB left to use effectively, but for just music and sims2 80GB is plenty.

80Gb should be fine, though more space is almost always a good thing!!!

If you're outside the US you might be able to get a deal today via the online Apple store on the 120Gb version of the Macbook, which also has a faster processor and the SuperDrive, which will allow you to burn your own CDs.

The UK price for the 2.2Ghz option today is £768 (normally £829). As the 80Gb version normally sells for £699, that's a pretty good upgrade for the extra £69.

It really depends how much music you have, catherooni. But I wouldn't worry about it, having 50 GB of music is rather hard ;). Sims 2 doesn't take a lot of room either, you'll be fine.

And just to clarify, hard drive space and RAM (memory) is different. You store your files on the hard drive, and more RAM will help speed up your computer, in terms of opening applications and running applications and such. Upgrading memory doesn't affect how many files you can fit onto your hard drive.

Also note that you can always upgrade the hard drive in the Macbook if you find that there's not enough space. You can get a 160GB drive for under $100 now, and their quite easy to replace in the macbook even if you don't really have any experience in that area.

Otherwise, you should be fine with the base model.

Yeah I have a 120GB hdd and at times it was hard to keep some free space, but that was because I have a large music and video collection. My music I listened to all the time, but not my movies or videos, so I backed them all up, and just left the ones I watched the most, that saved me like 25gigs.

One thing you can do to get some space back is run Monolingual. It clears off all the languages you don't use. The more files/applications you have the more space you'll save. I ended up getting about 4GB back after running it.

Yes, its a good idea to get an external hard drive, if you think you will fill up 80 GB easily. External hard drives are cheap and there's a wide selection of them nowadays.
