I have noticed that my Macbook speakers sound muted compared to my 12" iBook.
The Macbook speakers are located at the back of the laptop not at the front of the keyboard like previous Apple laptops.
When the Macbook LCD display is opened the hinge is blocking the speakers.
Even when I turn up the volume to highest settings on my Macbook the sound does not sound loud enough.
Does anybody else have this issue where the Macbook volume is not loud enough?

Well, I have nothing to compare with...but I think my MacBook speakers are okay. But notebook speakers are never fantastic anyways.
Anyways, the lid doesn't actually block the speakers, it just diverts the direction the sound waves are pushing so it actually reflects back at you. -
Sound levels of Macbook speakers are pretty pathetic. It has more to do with the placement of the speakers and the direction that they point than the speakers themselves.

(Quick Sidetrack)
The MacBook actually has three speakers. (Two "Tweeters" on the back, and one "Midrange" under the keyboard)
