I have had the logic board in my 2012 macbook replaced, due to the issues with the AMD gpu. It has been replaced with one using an Nvidia gpu, however, if try to do anything, it crashes, if I just leave it, it is fine, so as it now has different hardware, do i nee to do a fresh install of OSX?

Not sure how you got the board replaced with a different board. Apple would not typically do that especially on a recent model like that.

I guess try re-installing? Or, have whoever did the logic board swap check it out.

How do video drivers work on Macbooks?

They wouldn't do that, so it must have been done by a third party. A board from a different generation of MacBook might fit in an older one, but subtle physical changes might mean that something could be shorting out on the metal chassis.

They're built into the operating system and are only updated when Apple releases a new version of OS X, either major (Mavericks to Yosemite) or minor (10.10 to 10.10.1). Hard to believe you don't know that considering how long you've owned your Macbooks.

Yes it was a third party repair. I don't know how they did it, I just know when I sent it in, it had a AMD gpu, it now has a Nvidia one, as I said, I'm wondering if it is a driver/kext issue.
When it crashes, it generates an error log, at the top it says CPU panic and GPU panic.

I've seen updates on them subtly, but I really meant if you do a motherboard install or change up like that, can you just boot up and run (And it will self update) or do you have to do a fresh install of the OS? That's was really more of the direction I was going, but was slow to get there. And again I have never done a GPU upgrade/Logic Board change out on any of my Macbooks, I treat them like gaming consoles. When new games come out (Software) I buy a new console to play my new stuff. (Yea I just said that, and made that reference)

you shouldn't have to clean load but you can try, I flip between 3 different GPU's on my Mac Pro all the time ad the OS keeps applicable kexts ready for you.

if you now have a different GPU I suspect they shoehorned in a different model motherboard and there could be issues with it, or any pressure to the top chasis causes a short on the motherboard, these things ae NOT made for putting in a different board at all even if ports do line up.

The strange thing is, If I start it up and leave it on the desktop, untouched, it will sit there, for hours and all is fine, but if I try to do anything with it, that seems to be what triggers the crash.

Well a clean install didn't work, it's fine, until I start to re-install any programmes. here is the error report if anyone has the time to have a quick look through and advise, it would be most appreciated.
