I'm really looking into getting a MB/MBP. I'm not the type that is a heavy gamer, the only games I play are the Simcity series, and maybe HL2:EP1, but other than that i can care less about gaming. I just hate how Apple locks users in with integrated graphics on the MB, which is practically useless for gaming, and if one does want to do slightly more than the basics, they have to shell out the extra hundreds for the MBP. The real question is, is the standard MB completely useless for light gaming or other needs like watch HD video/high quality DVD footage?

The MacBook is not completely useless graphics wise, the SimCity series should be fine. Any game that's more than 2 years old will basically run, but not to top settings.

    Watching video is perfectly fine!

I think you'll have to turn the settings on Half Life 2: Episode One down quite a bit if you want decent frame rates... that's a relatively new game, after all.

sim city and video is no big deal for a macbook. half life 2 and the episodes are a big deal. you COULD do it on a macbook, but you would struggle with hl2, although with effort you could get it running decently.
