I got an email from Apple saying that there would be markdowns on certain (unspecified) items. Any idea if the Macbook will be marked down and if so by how much?

I highly doubt that any laptops or desktops for that matter will be marked down at all, as far as I can tell from Apple's history they're much too arrogant to lower any of their prices. Let me put it this way, if the laptops are selling so well now at the prices that they're at now, then why lower them? I don't think Apple will lower their prices on any computers but you might see a deal like buy a macbook and get a free sleeve...

Don't expect it to be much, if there is going to be. In the past, Apple has discounted its Macs, around $100-150 for Black Friday.

Here's a list of previous Black Friday pricing: http://guides.macrumors.com/Black_Friday

Ok that sounds good to me, anything is something. Could I use it with a student discount?

Now THAT I doubt. That's like a double discount and that wouldn't fly too well with Apple
