I am still thinking to buy MBP, and I saw yet anoteher problem with it.
I saw on several forums that people complain about edges of Macbook and Macbook Pro. They say after long time typing their wrist hurt because of edges on top.
Since I plan to do lots of typing on it I would like to know is it really a problem or not or is just overblown issue of some users
I am asking this question in this forum since I believe that here I can find the right answer from people that know.
THanks

It's not a problem at all on the MBP. That is unless you typed in a weird position or put a lot of weight onto your wrists.
-
not a problem at all
i heard it's more an issue with the macbooks
although i'm still not entirely sure how that works: my wrists are elevated above the edges of the macbook pro. they're on the area next to the trackpad. Not at the edge. -
I've typed quite a bit on my MBP without any issues whatsoever but I find my palms and wrists elevated above the palm rest areas so maybe I'm a weird typist.
-
no issues for me....i type on it directly 8 hours a day 2-3 days a week...

the macbooks have sharp edges underneath your palms. if you type with your palms resting on the laptop, it could hurt after a while.
the macbook pro does not have that problem. -

You meant Wrists? To have the edges under one's *palms* while typing would imply having really large hands; so large, that one can never hit a single key anyhow.
Well, I do a lot of typing on the MB, and the edges are not a problem at all. -
No problems with the MacBook either, I type notes in class all the time for several hours. I let my wrists rest on the space next to the track pad wihtout any pain...I probably have smaller hands than you do thought lol

not an issue on a mbp. unless your hands are the size of your feet. There is waaay too much surface area for your palms on a mbp. Macbook is another story.

no problems with my edges. i dont rest my wrist on the corner though, thats not a good thing to do.
people have to find something to complain about, dont they?
why not complain about something that matters, like govt, and gas? -
macbook pro doesnt have that problem at all! none at all. they are really really smooth. you must have mistaken the pro with the standard macbook.
the macbook on the other hand do have sharp plastic at the edges. though i never have a problem with it. i think those journalist just want the attention from controversial opinion. i have a really fragile skin and never cut my wrist with it even when i tried to. i was curious, since its not sharp at all that i dare to try it. really its not that big of a problem at all. -

err yeah wrists.
definitely wrists... -
The sharp edge on the macbook initially kept me from buying one but, after using one for a few months, I can comfortably say that it's really a non-issue. I've never experienced a problem with sharp edges on a macbook pro.

yes of course I meant wrists, sorry..
Thanks for all the answers.
As much post I read less I know what to buy.

Not a problem on the MBPs, but is a problem on the MBs.
We have several MBPs and MBs in our lab and we had to tape the edges of the MBs because they are too sharp. Our MBs are pretty old and I don't know whether they fixed this in newer revisions. -
I'm on a last generation blackbook - they haven't rounded the edges. Aesthetics FTW!

Use my MBP all day, never had any problems. I can't say the same for the MB though, as I don't own one.
