So my mom's MacBook started shutting down more and more often. It got to the point where I would restart it only to have the ****ed thing turn itself off as soon as I opened firefox! I got it working long enough to download the firmware update from Apple's website and, thinking that it would last, ran the update. Half way through, the thing hung and I'm now left with a useless pile...What can I do? I finally got the firmware CD out (what idiot designs an optical drive without a manual eject? Better yet, what idiot uses said drive in a mass-market product?). Anywho, I downloaded the firmware update onto my PC and properly burned the .dmg file onto CD. The ****ed computer still won't update! The drive spins and spins, but nothing happens and then it just stops working (the power light stays on). PRAM resetting doesn't work. I've take the battery out and done the whole power-buttong thing to reset the PMU or whatever, but to no avail. Can anyone help?

Note to Jobs: Your hardware has the reliability of Microsoft's software. If you can't get the ****ed things built right, license your OS to Dell or IBM...I've never had problems with THEIR hardware. Or go and find whoever was responsible for the old Powerbooks with the trackballs and my LCIII, which STILL boots. Thanks!

Ehhh.....How long have you had your macbook? If you bought it from a store, Perhaps bring it back to them and see what's going on? perhaps a hardware problem?

Good ole Apple, I suggest calling up Apple Tech support and to send it in to be fixed, from the sounds of it you have quite a messy situation on your hands. If it's still under warranty let them worry about it, if not I'm sorry I don't know what to tell you.

You are still under warranty I am sure. Why not go to an Apple Store or call Apple Support?
