Macbook sux and Alienware rox ;)

I hate macbook with a passion but I love my wife. She loves macbook and I refuse to pay retail. Steve Jobs and his family have made plenty of money off tons of people and I will not be one of those people. This is how I had bestbuy pricematch frys and sweeten the pot.

I walked in late like around 8:45 and found a kid who was ready to leave and tired of his job. He took good care of me and trashed talk the macbook all the time. This laptop is for wifey and I decided to upgrade her from her polycarbonate unibody that I picked up almost 3 yrs ago on a really good deal. I hope to sell that for a decent price either on ebay or craigslist.

I tried to push for the $100 student discount on top of the price match and they would not take it. I argued that I would rather go to frys and pick it up for instant gratification if it is the same price. I convinced him to take an extra $50 off the frys price and let me use my 18 month financing along with reward zone. I plan to update the sale on bby rewardzone since the associate forgot to select my member id. That will get me like $20 back in gift cards to help ease the PM.

Its a love/hate relationship. Somewhat complicated and hard to explain my feelings for the fruit. Kinda like adam and eve but even trickier to explain. What I can tell you is the price of the laptop has jumped back up to $1199 and going to be very hard to Price Match. Now where is that link for apple that gives me the laptop at the same price......

If you think Apple are over priced and AW are reasonable you haven't been a fan of AW before they were bought by Dell. Back then they would take Clevo/Sager laptop throw some alien head lights on it and charge you out the asssss.

I purchased the M15x at $4200 canadian, and all I got was a overheating POS. When the over heating finally got sorted out, the hinge let go because it was some cheap recycled plastic. I eventually returned the M15x and asked for a refund, and that's when the real BS started. Bought the AW from a Canadian website, paid Canadian dollars, and was given my refund in US currency with a $250 loss because the US/Can exchange. (Hence my filing with the BBB and small claims court)

I'm sure AW have gotten cheaper and maybe better support since the dell buy out, but they will never get my business again. Nor will I endorse any of their products to friends and family. If you did some research on the Better Business Bureau before they were owned by Dell you wouldn't be here supporting them, hell I wish I would have done my research before I purchased. Heck I wouldn't be here ing about them as a company either.

But hey to each his own, and I hope you enjoy your laptop, and the get the service you expect from it.

macBOOKs start at 949 on the apple education site. Plus they give you a $100 gift card for the itunes / app stores. You can sell it for just under $100.

The iPad is a good deal. I don't own one. I don't plan on buying one. I certainly am not pissed that you presented a good deal to us. That's the one redeeming aspect of your post. What bothers me is that you went to the trouble of finding this, but then posted it in the Apple forum at the end of an "alienware > apple" thread, when you could have posted it in the deals forum where people would actually see it.

 

I would never want anyone, and I mean this, anyone at my university see me use an Alienware laptop.

I don't care what people think of me to a point. Alienware industrial design crosses that point. There comes a time in one's life where coloured LED lights, exaggerated curves, and cartoony logos just aren't pleasant to look at.

Please educate me where is the MACBOOK PRO MD101LL/A with ivy bridge i5 for sale starting at $949.. English do you undestand basic comprehension to differentiate between macbook air and macbook pro along with student/retail pricing.

Where can I sell the $100 itunes card for little under $100. Who will be paying my paypal, ebay and shipping fees. Why should I have to sell it when I can negotiate and get it taken of the price outright. Less taxes and less headaches. I value the itunes $100 card as $85 or less since that is what I can get it for on slickdeals and honestly I value it around $50. I can get apps on daily deals via itunes and use student/work discounts to acquire software at 98% off. Research Microsoft Home Use Program for $9.95 for $500 Office 2010 professional or mac.

I am not worried about university and where I work I do not have to worry about people with tunnel vision, fanboyism or outright ignorance. I educate all about benefits of both systems. Part of the education is how to aquire products at a fraction of the price without rebates, and fake money back offers.

 

If you start at 949, even if you sold the $100 gift card for $1, you'd be doing well.

If you have some extra $100 apple gift cards laying around that you honestly value at $50, I think we can do business.

My visual field is about 200 degrees, no tunnel vision here. A fanboy would be someone who is passionate about one thing (one brand in this case). Any business laptop would be fine for a classroom. Among alienware laptops, the m14x is certainly the least egregious for a classroom, but I still wouldn't recommend it to anyone who has to bring it to a classroom, or meetings (especially if the nature of the meeting is medical / research / etc)

side note: does the most recent macbook pro 13" still have 1280x800 res? That's insane.

 

Here you can see the lowest price for the MACBOOK PRO is $1199 retail and $1099 student. Students get $100 gift card which is only worth $85 tops if you want to place a value to resale it. I do not see how you came up with $950 as the starting price unless you are talking about that pathetic unupgradeable macbook air. No thanks I need something I can slap 16gb of ram into and only set me back $70 or maybe a 256gb ssd that will set me back $180. lets see how much Apple charges me to add those 2 in....

Edit: Yes still that pathetic 1280*800 resolution in the 13" macbook pro.
Edit: I never particiapte in a deal that has an apple giftcard since that is putting money back in apples pocket...heck no. I rather have the $$$ amounted subtracted from the price and they can keep their pathetic gift card for the next noob
