A Penryn update has got to be close. Maybe in a week or two. I just can't see the MBP staying as-is for much longer.

The education discount on the MBA is kinda dissapointing. Really, I expected it to be more than $100 off (same as the MB). Ah well.

Still a seriously kickass laptop though, dear god. I'll buy one in 2009, when they get Capella into it (and when I need a new laptop ;))

It is trivial. They don't hold press announcements for processor updates. They didn't hold one for Mac Pro and they didn't hold one for C2D MBP/MB update, nor the SR version of the MBP/MB update.

Man... so we're back to guess-waiting based on the product lifecycle / days since the last major update then!

Apple may wait for the Montevina launch, since FSB speeds will increase and TDPs will be dropping then. Perhaps an incentive for redesign, with the cooler processors.

It's so annoying not knowing. The 2.4Ghz 15" MBP costs $3200 here, I'd be crying if I finally bought it after waiting so long and then a Penryn / Multi-touch trackpad one came out 2 weeks later. I don't want to wait until May / June for Montevina though!

    Wow that was really disappointing.

No black Macbook Pro, nothing on Penryn, no Cinema Display updates.

    No nothing.
I'd say, except for the Time Capsule, this Macworld is one of the worst yet. :(
The air is nice and all but still, common :(

No. I doubt Apple will consider BRD until the specs are even finalized. Sony has already shat on all the early adopters. They basically said that only the PS3 will be able to support the upgrades to the final BRD and the other players will loose out on the extras in future BRD movies. I assume this excludes players with upgradeable firmware...

But until there is a final version, Apple will likely not put it in their system. That and there is no combo player yet. You would currently need a separate burner and player (burners do not play movies from what we've seen).

The MB would be the 3rd unit to likely get the upgrade. It would start with the MacPro, the Macbook Pro and probably iMac and MacBook.

as much as I would have like to seen more things released, who am I to say when they should be released? look at what they have released, it is fantastic, another computer that has no comparison on the market, an excellent new update to their router, although it would be nice if they would make a HDD work wirelessly with the normal airport extreme, as they promised that at one point.

but overall, pretty fantastic if you ask me.

This is a bit off topic, but I'm kinda confused as to why mods haven't taken action as to limiting the discussion to one thread. There's like 5 threads here that discuss the same MBA thing. Seriously people I know how excited some of you get but yea.

No Penryn update for MBPs? What kind of joke is this? IBM updated some of it's models already, ffs.

No Mac Mini update, no 10.5.2. What a worthless MacWorld.

Though, it did put my mind at ease, knowing theres nothing to sell my MacBook for.

Its unfortunate, thnksfrthmmrs, but the several threads are already onto different topics related to the MBA and its hard to merge them all now, especially with all of them so large.

I tried to make it clear to minimize the amount with the sticky on the top, but I guess not enough people read it...

lol True that. But yea I missed it too when I checked the Apple section today. The only way you would get people's attention would be to write the title in ALL CAPS, but I don't think that'll look visually appealing.

It's all right. You guys tried your best. Hopefully the whole MBA thing will calm down in a few days.

Personally, since I didn't hear a "One More Thing" I'm thinking there may be a follow up event next week that covers some other things. I believe they've had dedicated "One More Thing" events before. I was also expecting a Mac Mini update, a 16GB iPhone refresh, perhaps iPhone deals in new countries like Canada, and 10.5.2 with a few new features to anchor the event and prempt Vista SP1. It would probably also be a good time to release Java 6 for Leopard and add Java/Flash support to the iPhone/Touch and get Windows Safari out of beta.
