So I've been a longtime Firefox user because it was the first browser (the first one I came across anyway) that offered tabbed browsing.

Unfortunately, that was back on a Windows PC.

In switching to a Mac, Firefox is still nice but I've been having some rather frequent crashing errors (no plugs-ins or add-ons installed at all either).

So I decided to switch to Safari which is advertised as being faster anyway.

But I just cannot get used to the tab switching shortcut. Command+Shift+]

??? Who the heck comes up with stuff like this???

Anyone know a way to switch this to Control+Tab like it is in Firefox? I tried going to Keyboard Shortcuts under System Preferences but the Shortcut Field would not recognize Control+Tab as an official shortcut.

Go to System Prefs>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts, click on the little plus arrow, choose Safari from the drop down list, type:
in the Menu Title field, click on the Keyboard Shortcut field, hold on Ctrl and press Tab, then click on OK.

    Similarly for Select Previous Tab.

Yup I tried this. They won't accept Ctrl+Tab as an acceptable shortcut for some reason.

Orite...I personally have it set to Alt+`, which works great. I don't use Safari as my main browser though.

asmallchild, have you tried the Firefox 3.0 RC3 ? I have no problem with firefox in OS X at all, even with all my favourite plugins installed. I don't like the RSS feature in Safari, it's not as good as in Firefox (IMHO)....

Just a minor suggestion, have you taken a look at Camino? Its Firefox-based, with more of a Mac feel. Done by Mozilla as well :).

If your fingers are comfortable with it, Shift-Command-[left or right arrow keys] will also switch between tabs.

I'd personally steer clear of Safari. If firefox keeps crashing on you then try a different version like the v3 beta. Plus the final release will be out in 2 days anyway.

Or if that's acting up then use other Gecko (Mozilla) based browsers like Flock or Seamonkey. They have all the same shortcuts as Firefox.

And as a side-note, a lot of people I recomended Flock to won't use anything else. Its an awesome browser for people who like social networking or sharing pictures etc.
    Hope that helps
