The osx is on app store, it doesn't come with a DVD. So how to install it to new hd? Can we copy from app store to a DVD?

you can also simply download the OSX lion via appstore, put into a USB thumb drive and install it faster.

The easiest method is just to change the HDD, and press alt/option in the keyboard when the grey screen appears, chose internet recovery and you are done. It will download and install lion.

    I need help
Today I updated memory to 8gb, changed hard drive to seagate xt and moved the original one to DVD burner's position.

After power up with press alt, it shows 'macintosh hd' & 'recovery hd', I want to install osx to the new hd and format original one to make it as a data hd. What should I do?

Choose recovery HD, which will boot to the install screen. There you can run disk utility to format the new drive and install the OS onto it.

It works! Do I need to copy something out from the original HD before format it? Are there a system region on that HD?

when you installed OS X to the new drive, it should have created a recovery partition on the new drive as well.

Yes. I have two recovery partitions. Don't know which is which. How can I delete the old one? Also what's the meaning of different 'volume formats'?

Use Disk Utility within OS X.

I erased the data volume. On the file system I only saw the data volume, no startup volume. Is that possible to create a folder on startup volume? Thanks

if I remember correctly to regain that 600mb partition you have to go with terminal commands, if you used windows disk utility in command prompt you will know what to do, but you can search on the net, how to remove recovery partition for lion

After I Erased the old volume, the recover Parton disappeared, I suppose it also removed.

The recovery partition doesn't appear in Disk Utility, but once you've formatted the drive, it goes away with everything else.
