When I add items to the iTunes library, are the actual files copied there or are they kept in their original location?

The reason I ask is that I have a large music folder on a second partition (10gb) that I would like in the iTunes library. However, I want to keep them in their current location and don't want another 10gb in the iTunes folder.

Is there a way to do what I am asking?

The files are not copied there unless you Consolidate your library. :) So, just make sure you don't. :p

In iTunes Preferences, go Advanced > General and uncheck "Copy Files to iTunes Music folder", and it won't copy it :).
