Hello,
Well I ordered on eBay the 2X2GB memories, today I changed it and... surprise... it beeps at the start, I can't even hear the start mac sound... It just beeps.![]()
Here's the link of the memories I bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110313395397

It might be because the RAM is not inserted all the way into the socket. Check and make sure they modules are firmly pushed into the slot. From the looks of it, seems to be a bad module. Try resetting the PRAM, then try and see what happens.

Thanks chargerbaseball25, I've tried 3 times, just to make sure they're firmly pushed into the slots, but I still got the same "BEEP".
How do I reset the PRAM? what's that?
Thanks again! -
I've also tried to put 3GB, one original memory card and one of the new ones... and I still got the BEEPS...

Maybe somethings wrong with the RAM.

Resetting PRAM and NVRAM is a simple solution that might help your situation.
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
6. Release the keys.
Your computer's PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. The clock settings may be reset to a default date on some models.
Also, you might be interested in what is controlled by the Pram. This is what it controls:
Status of AppleTalk
Serial Port Configuration and Port definition
Alarm clock setting
Application font
Serial printer location
Autokey rate
Autokey delay
Speaker volume
Attention (beep) sound
Double-click time
Caret blink time (insertion point rate)
Mouse scaling (mouse speed)
Startup disk
Menu blink count
Monitor depth
32-bit addressing
Virtual memory
RAM disk
Disk cache -
Thanks a lot, I'll try that!
But tell me, do i have to reset the PRAM with the original memories or with the new ones?
thanks again! -
I would do it with both, just to be sure.
-
Thanks, I'll try that!

This is sort of off topic, but why is any of that aside from startup disk being stored in PRAM and all that? I've never understood that...seems like lots of weird issues with it all the time (well not really ALL the time, but on forums like these).
