In windows, I can simply check the line-in check box in volumn control, then what goes into the mic will come out of the speakers (So that my friends and I can Karaoke :) ).

How can I do this in OS X ?

Go to your system preferences. The go to the sound menu(picture of a speaker). From there go to the input tab and select Line in.
