Hey, I'm looking to upgrade from my early 2008 macbook pro 15, which has a 1440x900 screen. I now want to upgrade to the new unibody 15 inch model. I want to get the base model starting at 1699, but i realise that it has the 9400 GPU. Since the high end 13inch with these same specs only has a 1280x800 screen, will the 15 inch with the same spec GPU have a better screen rez, or will it be the same as the high end 13inch MBP.![]()

The entry level 15" MBP (the one with a 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo) will have a native resolution of 1440x900. Lower resolutions (like 1280x800) are supported, too.

Hope it helps

If I'm understanding you correctly... the GPU and screen resolution are, for your purposes, independent. GPUs can support LOTS of varying resolutions, including the 9400M, but the 15" panel on the Summer '09 MacBook Pro can display a maximum -- and is native at -- 1440x900. So yes, if you get a new MBP 15", it will be at 1440x900.
I'd suggest you consider holding out until January to see what's announced, though; historically, MBPs are refreshed every ~6-8 months, so it's almost time. -
^^^ that artical is about the mac Pro, not the macbook pro

Whoops, sorry. Read too quickly.
