I've got an MBP C2D laptop. i bought an external HD which needed an installation programme that came in a mini cd.
i hesitated before inserting the mini cd, because i felt it would stuck inside. then, i just pushed it inside. i've waited for something to happen. there's nothing moving, no popping windows. no nothing.
So.. it's just stuck inside, and now i only want to remove the mini cd and move on with my life.
do i need to open the case? because if thats so, i might increase the ram aswell lol.. so is it possible to make it 3gb ram? or im stuck to the 2gb?

I assume you tried pressing the eject button and nothing happened right?
You *could* try inserting a sheet of paper to try and either take the disc out or to put it in a position that it can be ejected. A bit risky. You might want to take it to an Apple autorized/dealer/store/repair center to be 100% sure... opening it might void your warranty. -
You can change the RAM by simply removing the battery and then opening the RAM hatch. And yes, it does support up to 3GB or RAM, but you will need 1x2GB + 1x1GB RAM sticks.
There are several ways to try and eject the disc. If holding the Eject button on your keyboard for a second doesn't work, try restarting your machine with the eject key held down.
You could always bring it into an Apple store where the genius bar might be able to help you get it out. -
Try the methods mentioned first.
Opening it won't do much good. I believe mostl optical drives are encased so even if you opened up your MBP you still will need to dismantle the drive which I strongly advise you not to do.
I piece of thick paper or card with a bit of double sided sticky tape might work. You could also try very small tweezers.
Can you tilt it and gently shake it out? -
Good job. You did exactly what the manual told you NOT to do. Anyway yeah take it to the Apple Store...that's all
-
i've DONE it ! .. with a business card.
now that this job is done, why isn't MBP capable of running these kind of cds?
i know they're not so common, but every other company supports them. -
Unless the laptop actually has a cd tray that comes out, they're not supported.
-
Very few slot-loading drives are designed to handle mini cds as it increases the complexity and cost of the drive. Plus, how often do you use a mini cd?
The only drive I even know that will accept a 8" disc is the Wii, and that's for Gamecube disks. Of course, it's not really constrained for space so it can do that. MBP is very, very thin, so no space! -
-
Yeah, remember to unplug the thing and remove the battery too before you attempt!
-
well good to know
I know pioneer made a device that attached to there slot load drives that would allow it to use mini cd/dvd's
-
well i've done it while being online lol.. i hope nothing bad happens

Just load that mini CD onto a computer that has a tray drive and then copy it onto a regular CD.
I don't even know companies bother with those small things. CDs are so inexpensive nowadays -
mini cd's are smaller and look cool lol
Mini CD stuck in the MBP dvd slot.
