Okay, so now I'm heavily debating between the PB G4 and the MB Pro...

I know that on the MB Pro, the Firewire 800, PC Card Slot, and the internal modem are gone. Plus I really don't like the fact that I would have to use Rosetta. However, I'm only going to be using MS Office, PSP 7.0, and probably like, 2 games (I'm not the gaming type). I like the iSight but I have no clue whether I should stick it out and wait until like July to see what the deal is. I have no time frame, but if I'm gonna buy the PB, I wanna do it now. Otherwise I will just wait for the MacBook. I have dialup internet, but I can get wireless if needed, so the modem is kind fo big to me. Do you think Apple will bring it back? Are the FW 800 and the PC Card Slot missing from the new model anything to gripe about? Any suggestions?

I don't NEED it now. At the very latest, the beginning of August.

for dial up you can get a dial up port usb adapter from apple. It does 'have' a pc card slot, but i guess it is some new type that isn't backwards compatible??? i don't know for sure.

I suggest going for the MB Pro - it's going to be supported much longer than the older G4 will, as its fresh on the market. In addition the MB Pro also has newer hardware, such as the ATI Radeon X1600 GPU and Intel's new Yonah CPU.

Internal modem, S video out, PC card slot, Firewire 800 are gone on the MBP. Not sure aobut other missing things.

There is an external modem available (USB) if you like to carry extra stuff around. Only 2 USB ports, so that may be a consideration for you.

The express card 34 slot is a different interface from the standard PC card slot. Also the slot is smaller and would not physically fit a PC card either.

It my be be an idea to wait if you can. Seems as if this entry may be something slapped together for the SFMW Expo. Jobs loves center stage.

If I absolutely needed to replace my notebook today, I would get the PB.

    just my .02

    Good luck with your purchase

In addition to my other posts, the MB Pro costs about the same amount as the older PB G4s. The older notebooks don't have the same performance and feature older hardware - so you're basically spending the same amount of money for older hardware.
