Use iStat Pro for a widget, and SMCFanControl can monitor temperature as well as adjust fan speeds on the Mac.

if you google each of those, i'm sure they'll be the 1st or 2nd hits :p

As general sites for reference, versiontracker.com and macupdate.com are good databases of software, usually with the latest updates posted and some user comments/reviews.

You can find links to both applications (well, iStat Pro is a widget...) if you read the Mac Switcher's Guide sticky. Just a "note". because the stickies are there for a reason (to answer common questions and direct people to the right place) ;).

And you can also Google them. iStat Pro, SMCFanControl.

I thought the iStat Widget is at the Apple Software website. I use a Powerbook G4 at work and found it there. I soon realized though that the temperature of the laptop is often times 140 degrees F or higher.

iStat Pro is on Apple's Dashboard Widgets database, yes. Googling for it will lead you there, but you can also go to iStat Pro's official site, iSlayer to read more about it, that's why I'd say Google it.
