I was listening to music on my bed last night with my macbook pro refirb and fell asleep. I just woke up finding it laying on the floor beside my bed, with the screen closed. Everything looks good, except for when i open the screen, there is a point where the back peice of the computer rubs against the bottom part of the screen, which will cut up the aluminum very quickly. Is there a way i can get this fixed? There are no visible signs of damage.

Notice how the left side is slightly higher and not all the ways closed
I forgot to mention that the closest apple store is 3 hours away, but i will take it there if i absolutely must. Just looked at the purchase details and saw it has not even been a month since i ordered it. If i called up apple would they replace it? -
-
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Not exactly honest even asking Apple to repair/replace something that happened as a consequence of a drop impact...... if you broke it, take responsibility for it. The alternative is that one part will eventually wear down, and then there shouldn't be further grinding of the chassis.
Moral of the story to all -- put your notebook away before you go to sleep, and don't sleep with it.

Hah yeah i guess i shouldent sleep with my macbook. Ive been looking around the internet and have seen some pretty grusme pictures of other peoples macbooks that have taken a fall. I will try and bend it a little bit and just live with it.
-
But yeah, find an authorized repair center and see if they can fix it for less. Apple will charge way too much. -
To the OP, in all honesty, I don't see anything wrong. As others have also pointed out, you shouldn't expect Apple to fix/replace something that you yourself damaged, even if it was by accident or of no fault of your own. -
-
I must be missing something? I don't see any noticeable damage in any of those photos.
-
I'd take it apart and check whats bent in the hinge to make it slightly too low, and try to bend it back... but thats me... not sure of your knowledge/experience stripping laptops apart.
-
-
DO NOT and i repeat DO NOT take this apart on your own if you dont have experience taking apart and repairing or building things to have the confidence required to do so... do not rely on the people of the forum for this task, as great as many many people here are with advice, it is a whole different story with repairs... you loose a piece by accident and your laptop will have a whole new world of problems to contend with...
As much as i myself would be inclined to take apart the hinge and fix the problem, it is not something that someone with no prior experience should do, if you dont do the repair properly than there will be nothing but problems for you and your laptop in the future... -
