Yeah, I saw them on the net yesterday. I thought the dont-say-Vista ad was hilarious.

But the advertising one... um, who's paying for this ad that's complaining about Microsoft spending money on ads?

I also think it's pathetic that their ads don't bother to sell the Mac on its merits anymore... they don't tell me anything good about Mac, they don't tell me why Mac is better, they just keep saying get a Mac because Vista sucks. Well... whatever works for them, I guess.

I still think that buzzer thing is funny though. I don't think it has that much merit, really... I don't really blame MS since Vista isn't new anymore, and Vista's successor will be out soon... and also, Apple usually advertises "Mac", not "Leopard"... but it's still pretty funny.

Its become negative advertising, swarmer :D. They learned from the politicians :p.

But I quite like the Don't-Say-Vista ad as well, it was one of the pretty much as true as it gets ads. Another one was UAC.

True, but... at least the negative political ads usually make actual claims about the opposing candidate... not just implying he sucks or saying he's spending money on advertising (duh). In other words, negative political ads essential say My opponent is bad because of X. Apple just basically says Vista is bad -- and I find it interesting that they've stopped saying Windows is bad... just Vista now -- and they've stopped giving any reasons too. And of course they've long since stopped bothering to say any reasons why Mac is good.

The early Get a Mac ads actually used to say what's good about a Mac, if you can remember that far back. And they said what's bad about "PCs". Then they stopped doing that and switched to saying what's bad about Vista. I was fine with that too. (I liked it better in a way, because it doesn't imply that PC = Windows and Linux doesn't exist.) But now they don't even do that anymore... they just imply that Vista is bad and give no reasons.

Well, all's fair in advertising, I guess. The ads are still funny (at least some of them) and John Hodgman is as good as ever.
