Over two weeks ago I bought the entry level 15" MBP at Best Buy and I decided that it is not the right computer for me, because I use Windows all of the time (work and home), the software that I use do not have a Mac OS X version, and I will never take full advantage of the Mac OS X. The return policy of Best Buy is over and I can't return it. If anyone is interested in it, I'm selling it on ebay.
I'm neither a fanboy of Macs or PCs, because I don't discourage an individual's purchase of either product. I'm happy for the the indiviudal who likes their purchase.

Sorry it didn't work out for you.

I would suggest buying another macbook pro, maybe it will work out the next time.
-
You could boot Windows via one of the programs listed above. I tried it with Windows 7 BETA and it ran well.
-
As others have said, you can bootcamp to use Windows(assuming you have a valid license) and set it so it automatically chooses bootcamp Windows rather than OSX when it's left to boot by itself.
-
I know that I can use bootcamp, but right now I really can't pay more than $1,100 on a laptop (My wife did not like it when I bought the MBP without her approval and brought it home). I like the Apple MBP's, maybe next year I will get one with the new Intel i7 CPU, but of course with the wife's approval.

You know what they say "If momma ain't happy...".

There was an old study about the safe threshold of impulse buy without having to ask for a significant other's approval (the marketing study was for palm devices) and it was $299 [taking inflation into consideration, maybe it's been raised to $399].
Next year should be an exciting year (hopefully) new processors, GPU, etc. for both PCs and Macs. -

Should know better than to mess with your old lady. -
Haha good luck with the misses and with the macbook pro, I have been on the fence whether to get a new AW or go with all my friends and family and take the mac plunge

Here's and idea. If your wife has a notebook swap with her. She gets the stylish new MBP to fall in love with and you get a PC. It might calm things down in the house. If she's against it just let her play around with it for a while and show her some of the features. Its worth a shot at least.

I just found out why she got so mad at you Kage, all I had to do was look at your past posts.
In 04 you got the Toshiba zt3000.
In 05 you got the ASUS W2V.
In 06 you bought the Sony SZ330 but sold it after buying a SZ370P shortly after that.
You also mentioned in Oct or 06 that you've never used a mac before.
In April of 07 you bought a HP DV9000t to replace your previously unmentioned iMac. You then decided to return the shipment of the HP and return a Sony FE890 you had just purchased as well in order to buy a MBP because you said "Once you switch to mac, you never go back to a pc.".
Just a few days later you posted about returning the MBP because it was too pricey and you are more of a PC person.
In May of 07 you ordered the Sony SZ460 and HP dv6000t and wanted to know which one to keep.
A few days later you posted that you ordered a MBP and wanted to know if it could write DVD-r.
A couple of weeks later you posted that you bought an XPS 410 because you couldn't find a notebook you liked but were thinking of returning it.
Then in Feb of 08 you were thinking of selling the XPS for a MBP.
In March 08 you purchased an XPS M1530.
in Oct 08 you purchased a G50VT-X1 and said you had returned the XPS M1530.
In Sept of this year you posted about buying a Toshiba Satellite A505 - S6965.
A few days later you returned it for the MBP. You seemed a bit confused for someone who owned an iMac previously.
Within days you posted the thread asking why they are so expensive. Even though you have owned them in the past and posted that you would never go back to a PC (which you did anyway).
A week after that you asked if you should return you MBP for the more expensive model.
The day after that you posted that you had no buyers remorse and went on about how great Macs are. You also posted that you finally sold the XPS 410.
Your next thread was looking for external speakers for the MBP for $100 max.
On 9/25 you posted that you were planning on buying W7 for your MBP.
Now you have decided that the MBP is too expensive (budget issues) and not the right choice for you because you need Windows.
You've also posted that you just bought the Sony FW460J/T with the wife's permission.
Thats an awful lot of computers Kage. You seem a bit confused about what you want or perhaps you just enjoy posting things to see what kind of response you get. -
Wow - we have a CSI on the case.
Think maybe he has an addiction? -
Lol, can you maybe post how much you are asking for the MBP or maybe a link to the ebay auction for those that are interested?

+1 rep for impressive detective work (as soon as I get to a computer, since I can't seem to do it on an iPhone).
-
I had left out that once he posted about being in college and needing some advice quickly (I think it was about the XPS M1530 he had just ordered). He was going to have surgery on his jaw alignment and needed some question answered. He seems to have a lot of problems (surgery, wife issues, notebook is the wrong color, conflicting statements....). -
Honestly, I don't know why the OP felt the need to create a whole thread to tell us the MBP was not for him, okay so it's not, but in any case my real question is why didn't the OP do his homework and discover what he needed in terms of programs to run and such. Sounds like he just bought it because it looked pretty.

Jervis961:
Thank you for one of the most wonderful posts I have seen on NBRHehe, it was very funny and insightful too!
I can't seem to stop chuckling over it! -
Oh boy. So this thread is basically some sort of a "scam."
Am I right?
-
I'm 99.9% sure of it. There is always the possibility of being wrong.
-
Heh. Usually the "scammer" is kind enough to sign up as a "new" user.

Thank you, this is good news for other visitors
