As you may know from one of my message posts as the OP over at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=421191, I admitted that my wife was upset at me buying MBP w/o her permission that I ended up selling it on ebay for a $200 loss after sales tax. Over the 16 days that I had it, she refused to try it out.

Today during her lunch break she went to the Apple Store to test out the 15" $1699.99 MBP and she called me at work and said the she really likes it more than her $700 HP laptop that she bought at Costco 2 months ago (thank goodness for their 90 day return policy) and apologizes to me for being upset and making me loose money on the MBP that I sold. Tonight during our dinner I talked to her about bootcamp on the MBPs on how it can run Windows and how better OS X than Windows. She actually was very interested in this talk and she finally said lets buy 2 MBPs tomorrow at Best Buy after we go to Costco to return my HP laptop. Both of us will be getting the 15.4" $1699.99 version. Also we just preordered 2 copies of the full version of Windows 7 Home Premium.

Right now I'm backing up her important documents on to a flash drive from her HP laptop and then I have to do a system restore that will take a few hours to complete.

In short, I'm kind of sad that I lost money on the 16 days that I had the MBP but happy that it was less than getting hit with a 15% restocking fee if I returned it, but in the end we're both getting MBP's and are very excited about it :D.

Congrats on the double MBP purchase (we have a 13", 15" setup).

If there are any sensitive documents on her HP laptop HD, I would "wipe" it before doing a system restore. You never know where these returned laptops may end up.

    Good luck!

What happened to the Sony you bought? By the way you should really look at your other thread because there were some unanswered questions there.

^^ The man seems to be up to date with notebooks :D Changing notebooks every year or 2 is not so bad, if one can afford them.

    Congrats to the MBP.

    cheers ...

since you're buying two of them, I'm sure you can get the price down a bit.
Or at least get them to throw something in as a bonus :D

The Sony that I bought had the famous bsod that appeared every 30 minutes that had a win32k.exe along with a hexademical number. I called Sony and they said that I have to a system recovery. During the full system recovery it had some i/o errors and I couldn't complete it. I think that the Sony had defective hardware. Also the Sony had major light bleeding at the bottom of the screen. I will be returning it back to the store on my lunch break

Now for the answer for the other thread that I made a few years ago. In the past I preferred desktop pcs, because I was a computer gamer. Now it has changed, I'm not a computer gamer anymore, I prefer laptops over desktop pcs, I need more mobility, and the desktop pc market is declining while the laptop market is growing. For gaming, we have a Xbox 360 and my wife wants us to get a Nintendo Wii (maybe for Christmas).

How did you convince your wife to go from a Budget of around $1100 and making you sell the MBP at a loss (because it was too much money) to suddenly giving the OK for 2 MBP? My guess is that it wasn't a budget issue as much as an allowance issue. :p I really shouldn't pick on you though my wife would get mad too. That's why I got her a Mac first.

Hmm, I think the OP is just blowing smoke up our butts here. His OP in the other thread did not mention anything about his wife being upset because he bought a MBP until several posts subsequent to his OP, his OP said the MBP was not for him and then got rid of it because he uses Windows and he'll never use OS X........Now he's saying his wife has now approved and is buying 2 of them. Which lie is correct? I find it interesting his wife had to go into an Apple store and play with a MBP there to change her mind and decide to buy not one, but two of them? Couldn't she just play with the OP's MBP before he sold it? Hmm.

He also seems to have insanely bad luck with computers. How many has he returned within weeks because of problems?

Well this thread is ON topic for days now ;-) so might as well keep chiding one's own thoughts :D

OP has some bad lucks, and that can happen to anyone else. Just make sure that extended warranty is being bought.

    cheers ...
