I am getting the new 13" Macbook this week and I have a few questions. This is my first mac experience so please spare my noobieness.
1. I've been watching and reading review and people recommend not to go on internet when you are in bootcamp for windows. Is windows that prone to getting a virus when running it off bootcamp?
2. On my current pc laptop, I have to use a usb wifi with an extension of almost 20ft to gain a good enough signal for the school internet. I will have to get a new one because this current one(HWU8DD from Hawking) is not compatible with mac. Do you guys have any recommended USB wifi that will work for both PC and Mac?
Thanks

1- Personally I've been using bootcamp on my iMac pretty much since I have it and have been on the internet and never had any problem with that. I had Avast anti-virus on though.
2- ouff... I don't know anything about this stuff. sorry. -
1) Windows through BootCamp is just a normal Windows. Bootcamp is just the bootloader for it.
So yes, it will be prone to viruses just like a normal PC. Get an antivirus if you really need to go online on Windows.
2) It's funny how I can actually see and connect to networks my friends' PCs can't see, so firstly try the Mac just like that, see if you can connect or not.
If not, sorry I haven't heard of any extensions like that for Mac.
Cheers! -
1. Yes you can get viruses. It is just like a normal Windows computer. Viruses are software based issues not hardware based ones.
2. I don't know about that. Could you give the name of the wifi thing you are using? Have you tried maybe getting a friends macbook or something and trying to get internet on that? -

First off all hes talking about is a USB WIFI adapter with a USB extension...
Once you get your MacBook just use it and try to pickup a signal...
If you cannot then you could just buy a signal amplifier... that would keep the sense of "Portable" =)
