Hello NBR. I hardly ever create a new post but I just got my shiny new iPod Touch 2G today from my local Apple Retail Store. I am so excited. It's really cool! I really never noticed it before but the iPhone and the iPod Touch are scaled down Mac computers. I needed it for my work and the Apple store said that it has the Quicklook feature built-in so I can view Pages docs, Numbers and Excel Spreadsheets, Word and PDF's. For me it's perfect. I didn't want an iPhone but I wanted a device that could virtually do it all away from home especially since I don't have a notebook yet. Even with a notebook the iPod Touch is a MUST HAVE!! I love it!
IMHO, nothing is a better combo than a Mac and an iPod.![]()

NICE!
Im heading down to an apple shop in Tokyo soon... a few hours ... trying to figure out which one has least line..
Anyways did you try out the new nano? I cant decide between nano and touch -
Beauty!!! thats a one sexy beast ...
-
Pretty bombastic!

Yeah, the new Nano is very nice. I thought the curved screen would be awkward but it gives a 3D look and it's very pleasing. A bit too small IMO.
-
Very nice HLdan. Yeah, I view the iPod Touch more as a Pocket Mac than as an iPod.
Eventually, I'm going get one of these badboys for myself. -
Congrats, and enjoy!

@X2P
I personally don't like the new nano. The curve shaped it really wierd. I used it for 4 days, and i tried to like it, but the 1/2 gen is still the best, albiet the smaller screen. And I don't with to kill this thread, but i still like the zune better =)
But if you don't like the zune, then maybe the touch. Not the nano -
Nice! I'll get one when the 32GB model is under $100. Won't be too long I hope.

I have the 32GB model also. It's very nice. It's a little awkward for wearing at workouts, I really wish they had a more "blind" usable itunes interface. When I have it on my arm with an armband I can't see the controls at all.
I got a few social networking apps that seem to be "location aware" with my wifi setup at home, so I have tinkered with those a bit.
I noticed also that if the Apps Store has apps that are not Touch compatible, they don't show up on the list. My friend's iPhone has a lot more apps available, but the 3G service is slow as molasses (at least around here) so they are not particularly usable. -
Nice dan, love the imac with the ipod touch and dock. Btw how much did you pay for the dock? Anyway I was going to get a 32gb touch before the end of the month, I think I still am, but I'm afraid they might bump the capacities to 64gb for the same price soon... hopefully they will update the notebooks soon so I can have a nice little mac + ipod setup like yours.
enjoy it man. -
Yep, it's basically a pocket PC with the apps. I love mine too, my only complaint is the new 2g Touches seem to have weak wifi. There have been lots of complaints that the new ones don't pick up networks unless your really close, and I've found that to be true.

I got a corporate discount due to the company I work for. The Dock was $49.00 U.S. I got it for like $45.00. I didn't want to pay that much for a dock but I didn't want to lay it down while connected to my Mac. The included Apple remote is nice but I already have one from my iMac. So far I am very happy. Apple is right, it's the funnest iPod ever. This is the first handheld device I can use for business and pleasure.

I'm gonna wait and see the android phone when its released tomorrow. If its a letdown i guess i'll get the nano :-/. I had an iphone for 2 months and sold it. So now i'm stuck with a first gen shuffle.
