Im wondering and about to buy the following:
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=A774965A&nplm=TJ753LL/A
Is that necessary and if anyone has one, if you peel it off does it leave like a sticker mark and how does it look on and does it protect. Or if anyone else has something similar to this, can you share what kind it is and how much you paid. Is this even necessary to begin with? Thanks.

Necessary? No. But you should be careful, grease and dirt from your hands can cause discoloration, which is the main reason to use products like this.
-
Yeah that's why im considering it, I really want to know if anyone out there has one like this and want to know if it was worth buying.

It's up to you. A lot of people use those types of things, but I myself find them to detract from the looks more than a little wear may. Are they necessary, no, but they will help keep the look consistent.

MOST USELESS PRODUCT AVAILABLE FOR THESE LAPTOPS.
I am a student at an Art Institute that is completely Mac based, basically everyone in my entire department have powerbooks, macbook pro's, and a few have macbooks.
everyone that has a power book, including my roomates have had theres for nearly two years, with absolutely no problems what so ever with "discoloration" as this product says it protects against. as far as scratching this surface, I have absolutely never seen that either, out of 100's of people using these laptops, not one. as for all the macbook pro owners, most people have had the Core Duo version since the moment it was released, and not one has had any issues with discoloration, other issues yes, but wear and tear issues absolutely none AT ALL. don't waist your money on this. putting this stupid pad with another companies crappy logo is doing much more to detract from the overall look of the computer than any smudge or scratch ever will (which probably won't even happen in the first place) i have seen so many people treat their Apple computers pretty terribly with hardly any issue's like this.
THE biggest issues with MacBook Pro's are:
-getting way to hot,
-not going to sleep upon closing the screen (atleast many Core Duo versions, I have seen at least 20 or more with this problem),
-issues with the screen, (quite a few have had issues with what look like dirty spots on the screen, but it is behind the screen or an issue with the screen, (which many have gotten fixed by getting their screen replaced),
-and one of the biggest issues with the Core Duo MacBook Pro's is the mag cord, the point where the cord meets the main connector at the end of the cord is very weak, and many peoples are coming apart, not letting them charge the battery, (luckily, apple has already solved this with a better cord and will replace it for free).
These issues mentioned are all absolutely legitimate, trust me I have no reason to want this companies product not to sell or to make apparent flaws of Apple computers, I am just stating the issues that are common in a studio of over 100 macbook pro's (mostly core duo versions 15" and 17", both have very similar issues, some macbooks, and a few Core 2 Duo versions) (that are heavily heavily used) hopefully it will be helpful for some.
Discoloration of Macbooks in my studio from what I have seen is somewhat common, but this has already been addressed by apple, the people that had this issue in my studio, have had this issue fixed it seems as well.
to add, out of well over 100 Apple laptop users in my studio, I have seen one person to use this product, and obviously it works, it is easy to make a product like this, but is it really doing anything noteworthy, not much. -
also the people that get those iSkin keyboard protectors, the rubbery keyboard condoms, while those obviously work well to keep out crap from falling between the keys (which is easily cleaned out with quick shot of air) they don't do anything to protect the screen from the keyboard, that is another major issue.
while the screen back is pretty strong, it is not that strong, for some reason a lot of people in my studio don't seem to realize this, and will treat their computer like it is a absolute tank and kind of abuse it in this way.
tons of macbook pro's I see in my studio definitely have issues of the keyboard touching the screen, and maybe just making it dirty but maybe damaging it. The iSkin just emphasises this, the iSkin gets super dirty from use, touches the screen when the computer screen is closed, and gets it even dirtier than without it. so it is just kind of emphasising a problem that is already there.
the iSkin or this marware package would hardly from any sort of spill or major abuse, and a lot of people on apple's site have reported the marware package a piece of junk as well.
Necessary to protect sides of trackpad..
