My Macbook Air Rev A (A1237) has a failing hard drive, and I've decided to replace it myself (my first foray into mac repair).
Since I'm replacing the hard drive anyways, should I upgrade it to an SSD, or simply replace it with another regular hard drive? Space isn't really an issue for me so any hard drive 64 gig+ would be wonderful. Similarly, I don't need it to be amazingly fast, but I'm wondering if a slightly higher price might be worth the added speed.
The Rev A's seem to be an odd duck in comparison to the other MBAs, so any advice/experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Go for an SSD. You won't be disappointed.
What is your budget? I recommend getting a 128gb crucial m4 if you want to stay with a reasonable price. Samsung and Intel cards are also very good and reliable.
I have a Samsung card and an ocz. Most people will say not to get ocz but I got a 360gb for $200. Can't pass that upAnd it works really nice.

Your MBA will not take a standard 2.5" drive, so Crucial M4, etc. is out of the question.
The Rev. A MBA uses a 1.8" ZIF PATA drive, so you'll need to search for a replacement drive (whether SSD or HDD) with those specs. SSDs for the Rev. A MBA go between $130-200, depending on capacity. I've seen 64GB and 128GB drives.
OtherWorld Computing makes SSDs for all the MacBook Airs, yours included. They're a bit pricey, since 1.8" ZIF PATA is an obsolete spec, but OWC makes excellent and fairly reliable stuff.
(I have a Rev. A MBA in my shop right now and I've done a bit of research on this machine. Probably leaving soon to be traded for a 11" 2011 MBA.) -
