I know they are old,but they are cheap now and I want a mac.My limit is $500
and if its under that would be greatly appreciated.I want a 60gb HDD,I dont care how much ram it has,or the screen size(though I would like a 14in).It can be used(just not too many scratches or spots). It would great if you show me some sites, ebay is fine if they accept paypal.

    Thank You

You may want to look at Apple's refurbished units. www.apple.com

14 inch is often available. 12 is less plentiful.

The refurbs have a new computer warranty. I think they will exceed the price you need. The last one I bouht in Jan was $699.

eBay is your friend when it comes to this kind of thing. But I have also been in the market for a well-priced iBook G4, and they are hard to find. They start out looking good at like 2 or 3 hundred dollars, but then when it gets down to the last day of bidding they shoot up to the top of the search list, and in turn the price shoots up to 7 or 8 hundred dollars. It's tough.

Yeah, think about it, now that the iBook is now gone and taking G4 to the grave with it, Mac Zealots are now out to get it to add to their collection of hardware as a milestone. So especially around now it's gonna be harder than usual.

I have no idea about the G3 screen, but there is a review done on the Macbook here in which the new owner talked about his older iBook G4's screen, and he said that it had some annoyances to him, but the MB improved on all of it and he was happy.

It might be worth reading that part of the article, its on this site somewhere.

I wouldn't buy a G3 now, it's just too outdated. I've got an old 600mhz g3 12inch IBook, and it's really only useful as a backup and a web browser nowdays. The G4 is still supported broadly, if you can find a 1.2ghz or more g4 that would be better. If you want to do any web browsing and multitask you will need at least 512mb RAM. My 12 inch screen was pretty decent when it was new, but over time it started to fade in brightness a little. The newer the computer, the more likely the screen is still in really good condition.
