    I am still a PC user.....I know....
Well I do have to say I like the new Macbook, but now it starts.
    1.
Do I go for the 2 ghz with the 4 ram
or the 2.4 ghz with the 2 ram ?? (do not want to spend more money)
    2.
I am used to office ...can I survive with Iworks or should I skip that and go for office 08 for mac? (yes I probably have to exchange some word dokuments etc... but don´t think they will be overly complex)
    3.
Or should I skip it all save my money and buy a way cheaper pc-laptop....?

Maybe you should fill out the faq in the "What Notebook Should I Buy?" section so we can give you better advice. :)

    word processing (for university)
    some picture editing (lowend stuff)
    some powerpoint
and once in a while some stupid online game....no not one of the super dooper 3D multiplayer etc...

I just want to buy something that I can use for more then 2 years without getting pi..ed at it.

The 2ghz machine will do fine for you.

And, more ram will always give better bang for you buck than a faster processor.

So more ram is worth more than ghz? That's what I heard before...
I never work with 10 windows open....

I would say go for more processor and less ram. Get the 2.4GHz cause you can't upgrade that later. Also, i believe 2 gigs of ram is more than enough, and you can always upgrade it later.

I would go for OFFICE 2004, as it has some basic features that were left out in 2008 such as VB (if you use excel solver, macros and etc, ur gonna need it)

I agree. Assuming they're both the same price, get the 2.4 ghz. Ram is dirt cheap nowadays. Processors are not. I remember seeing a 4gb deal for like $30-40 not too long ago.

I am also thinking of switching to a Mac (New MacBook preferably 2.4Ghz) still got three weeks to think and do alot of reading about it. I want to know if i'm doing the right choice based on what i'm reading in this forum. IM really impressed with the reviews (and i can have both OSX and Vista) so im not really leaving Windows to think of it. I do alot of office related work (word, excell. power point) games & school as well. Still will like to know alot more so i can be familiar with OSX IF i get it.

Q: Is there double tap with the new trackpad or do u always have to do the clicking thing.

If i install Vista Ultimate via Bootcamp i will obviously need new security for it right?

How responsive is the new trackpad in vista?

Is OSX leopard user friendly (installing programmes, interface, compatable programmes, games, iwork)

NB: remember i am a pc user been soo all my life , just going for change there soo be easy on me :)

Yes, you would need new security. I was replacing an older (too old to sell for any decent $$) laptop when I got the MBP, so I was able to move over my Windows, Office, and security programs. I can assure you that Spyware Doctor with Antivirus, CC Cleaner, and the Auslogics defragger all work wonderfully in Bootcamp (Vista Ultimate). Oh, and the accelerator from pcpitstop (can't think of the name right now)...

    Thx for all your posts!!!

I still wonder why I would need Vista or other windows on my Mac if I can have office 08?
what does Vista gives me that OX cannot??
