This means no more palm rest! Nooo! :p

It'll take a while getting used to running a computer with gestures rather than a mouse and a cursor. But its cool nonetheless.

yeah, i dunno what's the use of that. It's just a bigger touchpad, nothing more. Besides, if you gonna rest your hands against a touchpad, how long it's gonna last I wonder? :) If they actually went ahead and replaced the whole keyboard with the iphone-like touch-sensitive screen, then I'd love that :D

That should be very interesting. Apple seems to be one of the premier innovators in the electronics community, and it seems like their newfound success has not gone to their heads yet. I think we can thank Mr. Jobs for that.

I'm thinking there might even be Icons and/or displays on the Touch Pad, giving the touch pad more function than ever.

Thats what I get from the "Claims" section on the patent application.

That hints at OLED display technology. If you've heard of the Optimus keyboard (and its ridiculous pricetag), you'll know that it's easier said than done.

You know, I was thinking that two finger scrolling is technically multi-touch in a touchpad. In any case, the patent was originally filed in 2004 and Jobs has said that it's only a research project.

I too would think multi-touch has better applicability to a tablet, like an uber-iPhone.
