    New MBP Question, Mini Display Port to HDMI connection

    Yea kinda.. though I admit, they should made all of the dongles ahead of time, and made it clear what display port can and cant do. Instead of leaving it up to us to make assumptions.

    If all of those dongles were out there now, it would just be as simple as getting the right one, or positively knowing that there isn't one.

    And I guess technology advances, some laptops out there don't have s-video or composite at all anymore, we seem to be moving towards purely digital.

    My parents need a small be fast windows machine, so I am giving them my m1330 and buying a Macbook.

    This display port shenanigans is making me ponder it, as its a downgrade from the HDMI port I am use to. I can deal with no firewire, no backlit keyboard but take away my ease of doing a slide show, movies and music on my HDTV's, that's just ridiculous.

    A 3rd party company should just make a cable that plugs into the mini display port and has hdmi on the other side..... somehow keep audio in the mix and no need for dongles!

    Has anyone found mini dvi to hdmi adapters yet, would be great if they could do sound, Apple and other mfr's should just include an hdmi port and problem solved ...

    OPTICAL OUT ! ! !

    The MacBook's 3.5mm has OPTICAL OUT!!! I turned it on and its like a laser shooting out of the side of it :D
