So I just upgraded from the '08 version MBP to the 2.2 i7 15" MBP. And let me say boy were there some changes. First of all I am loving the battery life, the 6750 is a good amount better than the 9600M GT, and the i7 quad is amazing, my Matlab programs compile much quicker. The build quality seems to have changed also. The keyboard feels different a little more rubbery and less plasticky from my 08 MBP. The metal seems a bit more harder, and the screen is a lot tighter, tight enough in fact that even if i hold it at a 90 degree angle it doesn't close on itself. And the screen I opted first for the Hi Res glossy and then switched it for the Anti Glare and let me say the Anti Glare looks AMAZINg. The display quality is pretty much like a glossy screen. I think apple changed screen manufacturers for the 2011 model because my friend who has the 2010 model also has a AG screen but his screen looks more like a traditional windows matte.

Congrats!!! You have a beautiful machine. I have a 15" Matte 2010 MBP. I will say this about the screen hinge appearing tighter. It "IS" tight but the reality is the glass on the glossy screen version is heavy and adds weight which makes the screen fall. The reason why I know this is because I first chose the glossy model and the screen fell forward when tilted. Decided I wanted matte because IMO, it's MUCH better on the eyes. The matte doesn't have an extra layer of heavy glass so it doesn't fall and that's just another reason I love my matte screen MBP. I also think this is better for the hinge in the long run. :)
One extra note, I'm not sure what you mean by a "traditional Windows matte"? I've had matte screen Macs in the past and other than the higher quality screen it's the same antiglare screen that I've seen since the Powerbooks.

By windows Matte I guess I was trying to say your "traditional" matte screen. I'm not sure if its just my eyes but the 2011 matte screen looks better than the 2010 models. I decided to google and there are several people who have noticed this to, something about apple using a different manufacturer for the Anti Glare Screen.
