I just got a MBP about a week ago. Im a new mac user in fact a new laptop user as well. I learn something new everyday about this mac. I've read a lot of Sam's switcher forums so thanx for that Sam![]()
.
I wanted to upgrade my ram to 4gb but to tell you the truth I really dont know what Im looking for. If you guys could tell me exactly what I need to buy that would be great. Actually if you post a link to the website that would be even better. As far as installing it I plan on going by the manual and hope all goes well.
Thanx for any info and advice![]()

Congrats on the purchase! THe MBP is an awesome machine.. in a few years (when I can afford one), I'll probably get one too!
You need 2 sticks of 2 GB PC-5300 DDR2-667 SO-DIMM ram...
I recommend Corsair, Crucial, and Kingston. -
Congrats on your new machine, and I like your avatar - great color. I'll take a MB or an iPod in that shade, please.
-
I was gonna get these from amazon, but only because that was my only choice when I bought my mbp. I ended up not getting them because I was a little short in cash because I decided to get a more expensive bag. Anyway, I'm sure you can find a way better deal from newegg or tigerdirect.com
Why did you choose your username? Are you hispanic? -

Congrats on the new computer!
How are you liking it so far? -
Congrats! I'm getting one sometime before September too.
-
Yes definetly loving it. I love the looks, the speed, and how easy it is to learn and use. Everytime I use it and think I got most of it figured out, its surprises me with something else. The best purchase I couldve made -
Also, there is virtually no difference between PC2-5300 and PC2-5400 RAM. Supposedly the PC2-5400 RAM is tested at a higher clock speed (675MHz). So you need 200-Pin PC2-5300/5400 DDR2-667/675MHz RAM.

Check out this ram.
Hope you enjoy the MBP, I just sold mine today.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 2, 2015 -
It was too big for me and the macbook fit my needs just as well. I put a 7200 rpm drive and 4gb of ram in the macbook so I wouldn't miss the performance gains of the MBP.

Enjoy your new MBP! I bought mine 6 weeks ago and still love it just like the first day!!

Congrats on the purchase! Take that info that Xander gave you and search for that kind of memory on sites such as www.newegg.com or www.outpost.com. You can easily find 4GB of memory for cheaper than people have been posting so far(even though they are great prices). Just look around.
