This is sort of a counterpart to the MBP version of this thread except its for the people interested in the future MB. This could happen at WWDC or slightly after during the back to school deals. Ill start it off with:
1. An aluminum case, with Black aluminum to replace the current black model
2. An Intel GMA X4500HD, not asking for dedicated graphics because apple will never do it
3. Put the Montevina chipset in, I know this is a given but I still will include it
4. A better screen! paying over a thousand dollars for a laptop should get you at least a reasonable screen, not one of the worst ones on the market!
5. An option to have no optical drive and instead put an SSD in to make file transfer and other stuff waaayyyy faster.
6. Keep it the same price!
Thats about it. If you have any others that are reasonable please add them!

4. the screen they having are one of the best in market already
6. they will. -
I wouldn't expect a MacBook update at WWDC. WWDC is a professional conference, targeted at developers, so they really only talk about professional products like the Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, or pro software. Unless they re-target the MacBook for a prosumer market, just as they did for the iMac, I wouldn't expect any MacBook updates at WWDC. Maybe around July-August, for Montevina.

Higher Resolution display could be nice & Card Reader is the my main request (Both MB & MBP)
-
I would personally prefer a titanium case like they had on the powerbooks as opposed to an aluminium case, since I think aluminium is too soft and bends too easily.
The Macbook screen does have some pretty awful viewing angles. Then again, given its thickness, it's pretty decent. -
I dont know about you guys but the newer macbook screens look really washed out, the colours even after making them a bit better were still pretty bad.
p.s. this is'nt just one MB its about 8 of them with washed out screens. Coincedence... I think not -
The macbook screen is good but i wish it was as good as the macbook pro screen. You can get an express card, card reader for the macbook pro. It would be nice if the macbook had a built in card reader.

I think the best comparison is to the MacBook Air screen, and yes, the MacBook Air screen is much brighter and better. Gorgeous...
-
That's the Macbook update I'm waiting for, and when it's released, I'm sooo buying one.
The Intel GMA X4500 would satisfy my gaming needs now. -
I just bought my MBP and I couldn't be happier. Especially coming from the busted M15x.
-
2. they most likely implement this at the next update or in near future. isnt the montevina delayed though?
3. again, isn't intel delayed montevina coz of problems? im not sure if they rectified it yet.
4. YES!!! a better screen please!
5. well i gues if its an option...
6. most likely same or drop.

wobble987 i thought he was asking mbp, my bad. however, there are tons of people using macbook in my school, they are not bad at all

Also, I would caution you (and anyone else!) against getting an SSD drive. As it stands there aren't long-term statistics (save from vendors) that reliably identify how long a SSD drive will last. Also, the costs for getting a company to recover data from flash memory is hellishly expensive - easily 3-4 times what it costs to recover data from a 'standard' HDD. -
i feel my macbook screen is much better than my vaio sz
-
Maybe it is just me but i have seen about 15 of the original macbooks whose screens are quite good and about 8 of the newest macbooks whose screens are by far inferior to the originals. Has apple taken a step down in screen quality?
BTW Apple has stated that by the end of 2009 all screens in every mac will be LED backlit. -
is it normal for a macbook's (regular not pro) screen to flicker? When I wake my laptop up from sleep mode the screen flickers for a few minutes and then it's consistent but idk if this is a problem or what...

ugh I'm off my warranty now and I can't extend it so idk if they'd look at it.
