The new Macbook pro video card has a greater chance of being an ATI card per the issues with the nVidia cards.

The 8000 series have been faulted with a high failure rate, but there was hope that the 9000 series could have preformed better. Now, according to the inquirer, the 9000 series is also suffering from high failures: http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/08/12/nvidia-g92s-g94-reportedly . Specifically, the G92 and the G94 chip, which includes the 8000 series, some 9600 series, and 9800 series.

If you're a nVidia lover, don't despair yet; the inquirer has not stated specifically the failure rate and if you don't know, the inquirer is not a reliable source. Also, the Macbook pro motherboard design could have already been finalized. If this does flare up more than it is now, Apple will probably migrate back to the ATI, the card I favor.

Don't really care if its a ATi card or an Nvidia card just hoping its better than the 8600GT.

I would rather it be an ATi card now - my Mobility Radeon in my late-06 Rev. C MBP has never given me any trouble.

I have trouble feeling confident with the current version of the NVIDIA card.

once again, YAWN, this is not NEWS this is rumors from the Inquirer.

and anyway, who cares, I have a prediction, the next MacBook Pro will have stronger GPU than the current model, shock. It hardly matters what company it comes from in terms of the end user.

when will people learn that it is not about the specifics of the hardware but what you actually do with it. If all you do is obsess of the specific hardware than this makes perfect sense.

I prefer NVIDIA cards because from my experience they getter better battery life, though the last ATI card I had was an X600 Mobility. So as long as battery life doesn't suffer, I don't care.
