I just got my Macbook today and I'm loving it. There are a few things, though, that I have questions about. For example, how do I take a screenshot? And what is the "paint" equivalent in mac? Those are the two things I'm wondering right now, but I might come up with more later. hehe So far, though, it's been pretty easy to pick things up.
P.S. I was also wondering how to "show desktop" and if there is a native way to use multiple desktops. If not, what program do you recommend?

Thats the answer for the screenshot question...
As for the paint question I believe there is a downloadable program called Seashore or something like that that will get the job done... -
You can get a free photoshop alternative. It's called Gimp. It's pretty good.
Use your function keys for showing the desktop.
F11 shows desktop, F12 shows widgets.
F8-F10 control expose, which is AWESOME! -
Multiple desktops will be here when Leopard is released in Q1 2007. There are third party apps that do this now, but I do not use them so I have none to recommend. Try googling multiple desktops and os x.

I'd recommend Virtue Desktops, is what I use. It has some quirks with some aps though, but it is stable enough for daily use. Thanks God there isn't anything as irritating as Paint in OS X.
Gimp is nice, feature-wise, but is much more complicated than Paint or other simply paint programs.

Thanks for the replies. I thought I did remember seeing that they were coming out with the multiple desktops in Leopard. Might have to upgrade when that comes out next year...

I tried downloading the GIMP and after installing it, it told me that I needed x11 to run it. I downloaded x11 from Apple's website but when I tried to install it, it told me that I already had newer software installed. Will installing it from the dvd make any difference? Any ideas?

How long did it take for Apple to deliver your Macbook?
-
There is more than one version of X11 available for OS X, since X11 is open source. Perhaps the version of GIMP you downloaded is not compiled for Apple's X11.
::EDIT:: did you get it from here?

Actually, that is the exact location I downloaded it from. The dmg, not the tarball.
Phungy: I ordered it on a Friday and got it the following Wednesday. Very decent for free shipping. -
weird. Could you post the exact error message that appears?
