That ipod looks sick!
-
Well, so far, nothing came out like Kevin Rose said. So I don't see why this should be true..

That's ugly as sin.
-
I really hope that isn't the next iPod nano. It's absolutely horrible!
-
Yeah, it's super Fugly. I'm not impressed at all.
-
It's good except for the curved screen.
-
Kevin Rose has been hit and miss, so I wouldn't expect it just yet. And of course, I find Apple does its products a lot better than its mockups. I do think it reminds me of the Zune though.
-
I never really liked the square nano's. They just look too un-ipody
-
It looks like a chinese knockoff of the second gen nano. If this is real, somebody please shoot whoever designed it, then beat His Steveness with a MacBook for OKing the design.
It really is as ugly as sin. -
I have a Zune.
This makes the Zune look sexy...lol -
At first glance I thought it was the Zune...Not a big fan of the nano so no comment.
-
i have a zune too, and i have to 2nd your thought, even though the zune already is sexy
-
Yep, and my 2nd Gen Nano looks a lot better than that thing.
-
he is not good in photoshop
-
That's a mockup, not a "leaked image". What 9to5 Mac posted a year ago (wow, its been a year!) was a leaked image of the iPod Nano. So this is just someone's mockup.
-
I actually think it doesn't look half bad...
-
I'm actually kind of surprised that Apple's sticking around with the Click Wheel, even with the Nano. With all the multitouch, it makes the Click Wheel feel like "old generation" technology, and I would think Apple would go with a smaller touch screen on the Nano by now. Maybe a Nano with just the iPod interface of the iPhone/Touch, and no home screen with lots of icons.

I don't know if not having a click wheel is necessarily a good thing. I still find the click wheel the most efficient way to navigate songs and change volume. But, I haven't used the Touch or iPhone much so it might just take some getting used to.
In any case, have any iPod design lasted so brief a time? I don't think Apple would have a major redesign of the Nano so soon unless the current model is doing poorly. -
Most iPod designs last two generations, but the Nano has been redesigned every year of its existence, so that's the only exception. The Nano is going to be in its 4th generation in its 4th year of introduction (introduced in September 2005 as first generation).
-
Sorry to disappoint those who didn't like the curved screen nano, but here's more proof it's legit.
http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/24/supposed-4th-gen-ipod-nano-case-designs-slip-out/ -
The new images on engadget show the screen's vertical edges are the only part of the screen that are curved; the front main part of the screen appears flat which is good news IMO.
-
I don't get what's going on around the bottom.
Anyway, isn't Apple famous for not giving third-party manufacturers the case designs? Maybe that was the past, since the iPhone 3G cases were accurate. -
Well, I hope they slash prices on the Touch and iPods then like Kevin says they are going to, because I won't be buying another iPod if they look like that picture.
-
I also don't like the design.I want 64GB i-Touch (Oh ya! With reasonable price)
-
another thumbs down from me. Ugliest PMP I have ever seen >.< and the design looks like a knock off of this AU phone (AU=japanese cell company). Ignore the black outline that is not supposed to be there
comments? -
Naw, I think of "Zune" when I see that mockup...
-
Actually I'm not going to lie but that new nano looks a lot like that phone minus replacing the keypad with a scroll wheel. If that is the new nano I feel bad for apple and its customers because that is ugly as sin.
For me here's how it goes in terms of preference. (I have the 1st gen nano)
1. 2nd gen nano
2. 3rd gen nano
3. 1st gen nano
4. "4th" gen nano (if this is the design its really ugly). -
i'd say this isn't legit, look at the cutout holes at the bottom nothing there to facilitate apples signature charger/connection port. the hole there is actually the size of a mini-usb connection, so i call fake.
-
Exactly why I posted a pic of a phone that was in the spring line from KDDI AU here in Japan that looks very similar
Imaging replacing the touchpad and bamng you have your nano -
The thing looks like a flash-based Zune that has been modified slightly to give it the curved look and the "squircle" has been replaced with a click-wheel.
-
Extremely ugly.
-
Everybody said the same things when the fat nano design was leaked, about how it was horrible and ugly and whatnot, no doubt if this new Nano design is accurate, then it'll look much nicer in the flesh and in proper Apple press shots.
I'll wait till they're officially revealed before deciding on whether I like it or not. -
Good point, although I still don't love the current Nano design like I did of the second generation Nano and iPhone/Touch
.
Sometimes I warm up to Apple products though. I was skeptical of the aluminum iMac but now I definitely prefer its design over the white iMac. -

Redline said just what I was thinking, this looks like a Chinese copy, and a cheap one at that. If it is real its gonna confuse the hell outta the Chinese copycats. How will they be able to copy a crap design like this and make it even crappier. I'm sure they'll find a way. If this is real its time Steve either had a long chat with his design team or somebody had a long chat with him over allowing this to hit production. With iRiver making PMP's like the stunningly designed Spinn and direct class competitors from Meizu with the M6 SL this is even worse. This is the Motorola ROKR of the flash mp3 world IMO.
-
I'm actually very impressed by the new Cowon MP3 player. That would be the only real alternative to the iPhone/Touch out there in my opinion.
http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/25/cowons-s9-curve-with-3-3-inch-amoled-touch-display-impresses-k/ -
I rather like it.

Couldn't agree more Sam. That Cowons curved design reminds me of some kind of Bang & Olufsen high-end hifi gear. It looks completely stunning and I would love to play with one. Cowon also have that little habit of making their players sound amazing as well. The curve on the nano mockup really really doesn't do it for me though. I'm also curious about the new Archos range but after trying to reapir a few of their older models (and failing) after I found the batteries had literally popped I don't really fancy spending my own money on one just yet.
I really hope for Apple's sake this isn't the design they are after as although the Touch and iPhone have the non-audiophile market in their grasp the nano has hundreds of other players lined up against it in a much more cut-throat sector of the market, some of which are very good. And with no touchscreen (and probably no wifi) like its big broher and christmas arriving soon it could be a hard sell for even the masters of hype.
