I just saw the new iPhone TV Advert for the first time...it's basically the same as the new US ones but instead of saying "...twice as fast", it says "...really fast"!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is because 3G networks are nothing new here in the UK (are they in the US?) and I'm not sure the 3G speeds are actually much faster than with most other phones around at the moment.
Does anyone else know if this is true - is the iPhone actually that much quicker than most other 3G phones?
-
-
i think the "twice as fast" was comparing to its 1st gen. i tried the 3G at apple store, it tooks like 5-7 seconds to download yahoo.com, so you can picture it.
-
Yeah, twice as fast as the original for half the price of the original. Its about the same as every other 3G phone I believe.
-
Twice as fast mobile broadband. Nothing else is really twice as fast, other than the battery drain.
Gotta consider the power consumption of 3G - kills almost all phones really really quickly.
-
It says "really fast" here in Canada as well. Since it was the first time the iPhone was launched here, they couldn't say "twice as fast" because they had no other iPhone to compare it to. (thats my guess at least.)
-
btw i can't believe that they couldn't came up with something better than "really fast"
-
Its super duper fast!
-
or it's like totally fast man
-
And yes, 3G also seems to be pretty new to the Americans. So that does make some sense.

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
yep, twice as fast for half the price...
except it costs MORE. -
Yeah, but the 1st gen iPhone came out here too!! If they were comparing the difference in speeds then they could've said the same "twice as fast" as they do in the US...it just seems odd!
-
Well half the price when you purchase, costs more in the long run
.
-
I think it's cuz there was/is discussion about false advertising by Apple in regards to the speed and/or pricing of the phone
-
Well, neither is really false advertising, though. Based on Apple's tests, the iPhone 3G downloaded documents and loaded webpages twice as fast as the original iPhone, and since the iPhone EDGE sold for $399, having it at $199 is technically half the price. There's no false marketing in there.
Its like saying a high performance car isn't labeling its price properly because the company didn't factor in gas. Those cars use a lot of gas, but yeah, they don't put the price in there.
