Just wondering, has their been any rumours on Apple realising a next generation of iMac desktops or Macbook laptops?
Wouldn't mind an update to go with the new iPods and iPhones...

I would say more likely new MacBooks than new iMacs at this point. The rumours are circulating around Mac notebooks and not the desktops. The iMac has been redesigned, while the MacBook and MBP are still on Intel-debut designs, so yeah.

Like Sam said, notebooks are most likely to be the ones up dated. Some say Oct 16th we will see new Macbooks/Pros (and I really hope this is true). However there were some rumors in early Sept that iMac would be updated as well. One roadmap posted by AppleInsider says the notebooks will be updated soon and iMacs later in the year, like November.

I was hoping very much that the new line of macbooks would be introduced with the ipod update. Ever since I got the iPhone, I want OSX. I actually got a black macbook then quickly sold to a friend anticipating the new macbooks.
Now I want to sell my ThinkPad and live on the iPhone till the new macbooks arrive.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if the iMac gets a hardware refresh, but just very minor I would expect, if any. No redesigns, the design is relatively new. Although it seems they are skipping this and going for Nehalem.
New iMac or Macbook?
