I just installed the new nvidia drivers and to my surprise my fans kicked in while running 3Dmark06 and my temps never got higher than 80C. I wouldn't have normally been able to run it without starting SMC fan control in OSX first. The version nvidia released was 179.28 for vista x64. Does anyone know the version that is released within bootcamp ?

@1280x800 my 2.53 GHZ unibody scores 5310, which is OK with me. I have some tweaking to do with rivatuner and I think it will do better.I've been playing CofD5 with settings pretty high and the game looks and plays great.

Exactly which drivers did you install? Graphics drivers for the 9600gt?
Please give us some more details.

Hi, If you go to nvidia.com and click download driver section then select notebook drivers, just select your OS.

    here's the link: http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_drivers.html

i think the bigger news here is that its an official driver for laptops from nvidia. before we had to rely on hacked versions, now nvidia is supporting it themselves.

the way the thread is tittled, it almost makes it see like before the fans didnt spin up when doing intense tasks. they did.

Installed the new drivers from the Nvidia site, macbook pro still seems to run much hotter than it should.. but it's a step in the right direction.
New trackpad drivers, and video drivers tonight.. things are looking up.

    Thanks for the heads up.

I agree. I don't think it can get much better though, without physical changes to the laptop because when I playing a game I use smc fan control set to max and my lappy idles at 56C and under load it would approach 85C with laptop2go 180.70.

I noted the GeForce 9400M integrated graphics chip isn't included in the NVidia notebook driver. What version is installed with BootCamp from the installation DVD and are there more recent drivers available for Windows XP?

127MB for the laptop drivers? (32bit XP) That's kind of odd, isn't it. Desktop drivers are ~20-30MB.

I'm downloading now, see if they're any better than Dox's drivers..

Perhaps these new drivers from Nvidia can use a modified .inf file to support the 9400M. And still support fans ramping up when they should. Would be interesting to know... I wonder why Apple didn't want Nvidia to support the 9400M?

Because they don't really care to have the integrated card made available in Windows IMHO.

"Let's just enable the 9600 so we can have the whole gaming aspect sorted out and that's that."
