    Hi guys,
    I have a "weird" question.
I`ve bought my first mac 2 months ago and I love it!
I`m still learning, so I have a question:
When I was using Windows I had Hard drive C: and D:,
so all my stuff(music, pictures, documents) were on D:
So Im confused a little bit.

What should I do on mac, because I`m still putting all my stuff on Macintosh HD.
What if I need to reinstall OS X? When I was using Windows, I didn`t have problems.

So should I keep my stuff on Places - Documents or should I copy my stuff to Mac HD?

    Thanks :)

    D.

Places - Documents is on the Mac HD. Its just a shortcut to the that directory.

I wouldn't worry about it. That being said, like anything else, you should have a proper backup strategy.

The Places -> Documents is like My Documents in windows. The Macintosh HD is like the C: drive. If you want to partition and put everything on a separate partition you can, but you don't need to, and I wouldn't, this isn't windows!

If you click on your Mac hard drive -> Users -> (Username) -> Documents you get to the same place as you would by clicking Documents under Places.

In windows reinstalling the OS and getting everything like your movies and stuff as a pain so thats why it was a good idea to just have the OS on one partition. But on OS X thats not the case, Time Machine makes back up a real piece of cake so even if you have to reinstall the OS a simple time machine back up and you have your old mac files back within 1 - 2 hours.

just get an extra hard drive to use for Time Machine and nothing to worry about.
