I recently bought a Macbook and really happy with the purchase. I am still learning OS X, getting used to new keyboard layout, shortcuts, two finger right clicking, installing software. I had been a PC user for the last 16 years and this is my first Mac. At first, I was scared that it won't be worth moving over to Mac since I have to learn a new OS from scratch and it might take couple of months to get a hang of it but I was wrong. Things are quite similar to Windows OS if not easier.
Now I have both Windows and Mac systems. At work, I use Windows and at home Mac. I would say both OSes get the jobs done and I am happy with both.
I was wondering if someone can help me with the following question:
How can I click enter to open a software/document/file in Finder without double-clicking?
Currently, if I click ENTER button it gives me option to rename the file.
By the way, Thanks to all the folks contributing to this forum. You guys are doing a terrific job helping all the new comers.![]()

Welcome to the forum, orbitalca80!
These two guides from Apple are worth checking out for new Mac switchers:

Hm, there might be a keyboard shortcut to rename files without double-clicking. If you want to rename something in an order, say you took a bunch of photos in Las Vegas and decided you wanted to rename the photos to be Las Vegas - 1, Las Vegas - 2, etc. you can have Automator do that for you, instead of renaming by hand.

welcome to the connection point of all the brains of the notebook computer information world. ^_^ I guarantee you that you have already expanded your knowledge significantly just by connecting, oh the beauty of the internet.
it is quite possible to navigate around OS X almost entirely without a mouse, and here is a great simple guide covering many of the main commands used to do so, I would also highly recommend looking around that site as it is full of lots of interesting OS X information
the best way to get good at navigating with the keyboard is using spotlight, want to open an App, press Command + Space and quickly type the first few letters of the app and press return.
Command + Tab to switch between apps, plus many more...
