Thinking about getting the new 27" iMac with: Core i7 3.4GHz CPU, 2TB HDD, 16GB RAM and the AMD HD 6970M 2GB graphics option. I want to partition the drive for OS X and Win7 dual boot capability (bootcamp). The Windows side will be used for some occasional PC online gaming. The OS X side will be used for all my other computer usage.
The big question I have is, will PC games such as COD: Black Ops & Modern Warfare, along with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - be playable enough (hopefully 40+ FPS with decent graphic settings) with the i7 3.4GHz CPU and the HD 6970M 2GB graphics if I set the game resolution to 1920 x 1080? Seeing as how I don't want to have a seperate PC strictly for gaming, I was hoping this new iMac might do the trick for me. Any comments or insight appreciated!![]()

It will be playable at decent settings for current generation games, most likely will have some issues with next-gen games (BF3 might have some issues for example). Windows drivers don't run perfectly in boot camp so it will probably be a bit of a pain sometimes.
If you don't want a separate PC only for gaming then you don't really have much of a choice in the matter. However, it would probably be cheaper to buy a mid-ranged PC and a mid-ranged Mac or even low-ranged, depending on how much work you do on the Mac (and I mean actual work like graphics or video, Facebook and managing an iTunes library doesn't count).
That way at least when new graphics cards come out you can just swap them out of the PC and keep it current. I would never want just one computer in my house regardless. At least with two computers you could switch between them easily without having to power down and boot up again. -
playable on decent settings one thing to note it the iMacs use a MOBILE GPU and not a desktop chip. so gaming will be about that of a high end laptop and not a desktop. It will be a bit faster than a laptop with a 6970 because of the desktop processor.
