    I accidentally deleted "Macintosh" Hard Drive in finder, under devices. How do I get "Macintosh Hard drive back?

    I know that is kind of a newbie question, but I would really like it back, I can't figure it out from googling and stuff.

    You can get it back by going here and checking the box for which devices you want to show:

    Finder->Preferences->Sidebar

    Also, if you deleted it off the desktop, you can similarly get it back here:

    Finder->Preferences->General->Show these items on desktop

    I have another newbie question....

    Dust/smudges magically appears on my screen? How do I prevent this? I am not really sure where the dust is coming from but I"m guessing it is the keyboard.

    I have another newbie question (sorry for all these questions google isn't helping).

    I have this software called memoe backup that came with my seagate go flex hard drive, but for some reason it put something in the top of my screen...i'm afraid this is using processor resources.

    Unlike stuff in my dock I can't easily disable it.

    How do i disable it from starting up when I don't want it.

    The same goes for time machine how do i stop that from starting up when I don't need it.

    Time Machine Preferences is in System Preferences... you can disable time machine.

    3rd party software running... well you can check its preferences to disable things, or it often adds things as a log in item in your User account in System Preferences->Accounts

    If oyu want to see running processes you can use Applications->Utilities->Activity Monitor.app
