Hey guys, after spilling half of a latte (like an idiot) on my black MacBook - I was in dire need of a new laptop, didn't want something cheap but me being a student had to think reasonably - so I bought a friends MacBook Pro 15" 2.16 C2D. It's in good shape and I'm pretty happy with it.

I've noticed the battery life is nothing like my BlackBook 2.16 C2D - so I booted up Coconut Battery:

    Original: 5500 mAh
    Current: 4855 mAh

So the question is, should I be buying a new battery for it? Would I see big gains? I'm averaging about 2-3hrs (depending on what I'm doing).

Also, I bought it from him for $750 CAD - too high?

not too bad on the price I think .. as for new battery .... a new one will get you another few minutes but nothing substancial.

if you need longer battery life dim the screen and disable anything that runs exxtra CPU/GPU usage

Any idea what I should be getting? Is 3 hrs about right?

Also is it weird that this thing seems slightly slower than my MacBook 13". The specs are exactly the same (except I haven't moved my 320gb 7200rpm hdd over to the 15" MBP yet) except for the ATI discrete graphics.

install OSX cleanly. It is quite possible you have a slower HDD in there ... some of the old blackbooks ahd nice fast seagates in them lot of the unibodies have somewhat slower hitachi's

3 hours sounds about right if your doing more then sitting on a text web page and got everything turned down or off
