Hrm... Okay, so like, the 2nd day I had my MBP, I was installing iWorks.
And then I tried to eject the disk. *whirrrr*
Umm... disc? hello? disc?
It didn't eject. So I tried again... no go... and again, no go... I could see it, just peeking out between the felt padding. I could barely push it back in, and tried ejecting again... it was still getting stuck. A reboot didn't help. I was using it on a flat surface also. Eventually, I was able to pull it out with some tricky tricks, but I'm wondering if I should return it.
It also makes some clicking noises when I first insert the disc. I'll be calling up mac sometime soon (when I feel I can actually be parted from this baby for more than a day or two) to see about replacement/fix.
anyone else have noisy MBP dvd drives?

i think you better have it checked. although i did have those kind of problems when i had my titanium powerbook...
-
Powerbooks Had TITANIUM casing!!!??
-
err..yeah..
-
I believe only the TI PB had titanium casings. not all PB.
-
yeah..i did saya "my titanium powerbook"
-
yeah, i just wanted to clear that up. I think he was thinking that all PB were TI PB.
-
enh.. mine's really loud too, but i just attribute some of that to the fact that it's a slot loader rather than a tray. mine has a loud whirr and when it takes the disk in or out there are some rather alarming clicking and moving noises going on. So far it actually works flawlessly though.

Well, good to know other people have noisy drives. I've never had a slot loading drive, so I wasn't sure.
But still, the fact that I had a disc get stuck in it... But since then it hasn't happened and I've ripped something like 50 cds to my MBP since then. -
Yep only the T1 PB -
I second that, my macbook has a very loud drive as well.
-
You guys have loud drives?
Wooky I thought you had a MBP not a MB.
Mine isn't loud at all, granted I have the MB and not the MBP. I would check it out, this isn't exactly an uncommon issue either with Apple, it's just one of the risks of having a slot loading type drive, sometimes you get one that doesn't work very well, usually if you get it replaced you should be set for life than.
Check those cd bottoms as well, the drives that usually have issues also scratch the CDs, and such a thing warrants a replacement. -
yeah, i definently think I'm getting some scratches. But right now, I can't really send it in for replacement. It's too important and I have a lot of work to do and can't afford even 2 days without the unit. It'll have to wait till I have break.
