And I was just about to make a purchase...

They figured that without Jobs life really wasn't worth living anymore. In a case of mass suicide all of the Apple engineers, tech support, sales, financial, etc took a large doses of cyanide in glasses of Martinelli's as a show of support for their leader. Before this though, they shut down all internet sales in order to prevent the pleasure that is Apple to be enjoyed by anyone else in the future. Supposedly, at the time of Job's passing, there is a backdoor command that will cause all Apples to burn out their BIOS' as a final tribute to their fallen leader.

Oh my... what passes for humor these days.
Back on topic, my guess is iLife is gonna be released. It went GM last week, and was rumored for a Monday release. Maybe Sunday is the new monday.

Lol, ok toshiba fan boy, ditto to you too.

Actually I do like Apple's aesthetics, and every once in a while I have to explain to the wife that Apple's won't work on our home network due to the tabouli clogging up the tubes (in reality I just don't want to learn a new OS). Hopefully Job's leaving will not have a negative impact on the company, I mean MS needs to get their new ideas from somewhere, right? -
Well its back up... nothing new that I can see, not even iLife

Was it down with the usual message like "We're updating the store for you, check back later" (or something like that) or something different?
edit: It seems they've changed something about the URLs of products on the store. The URL doesn't show the /1-800-MY-APPLE/ thing anymore, instead they have a /product/TL516Z/A?mco=MTIxODk3Mw syntax. -
mac dont use BIOS. they use EFI.
-
BIOS stands for Basic Input Output System, which allows the hardware to communicate with the processor and so on, so the EFI functions exactly the same way, so it technically is a BIOS. That's like saying Macs aren't PC's. Of course they are, they are Personal Computers.
-
BIOS and EFI are basically the same. It is just Apple marketing speak to make Macs seem special over other PCs.
-
It's not Apple's "marketing speak".

efi is managed by intel, not apple. apple just happened to be the first to adopt it for consumer laptops and computers.
efi is not that big of a deal. -
ah,you are back!great!
-
Vista was supposed to support EFI as well, but like most of the other useful features it was cut out.
-
Ah, great, your back.
-
/wrists!!!!!!! -
i think SP1 support this.
if im not mistaken MSI is releasing a new motherboard with EFI. so custom built computer will have EFI soon
-
Well, nothing new has come up, it just seems to be routine maintenance. It is interesting, I wonder if anyone gets excited when Microsoft.com goes down
.
-
Hahahaha, good one Sam! I was wondering the same thing!
-
The only thing that happend was the ejaculation of the topic starter.
