    Hi,
I'm currently looking for a new laptop and I'm wandering if Apple would suit my needs.
What I'm looking for is some info, about the trading software made for OSX. I'm trading stocks, futures, commodities and currencies. I'm looking for software that will handle technical analysis.
I've seen ProTA GOLD and something else. Do they (or any other software) have the ability to use "MetaStock" database files? I want to add info manually, becase I'm from Poland and we don't have automatic services here :p

    Thanks for any help,
    Mikeroz

Most trading software is written for Windows; it's a numbers game. Forget Metastock. Take a look at Amibroker which just happens to be based in Poland.

Some software works okay in Boot Camp but others lose much functionality. You can download Amibroker and take it for a test drive. Good luck.

Since those are not heavy resource consuming programs you can prolly just run it under emulation.

I mainly use QuoteTracker for quick and dirty and short-term TA and use stockcharts or bigcharts for other stuff. QuoteTracker only runs under Windows. I tried running it under WINE but it had a few problems that were annoying.

I found a pretty simple solution: I run a Windows XP Virtual Machine under Oracle VirtualBox and just run my Windows-only stuff in the VM. The old XP license was used for a VM on a system that I no longer use (it's sitting in the basement disconnected) so I ran the Windows Installation and all was good.

Check out freestockcharts.com. You'll need Silverlight but best free charts on the web. Try VWAP. Great confirmation indicator.

    Very, very nice.

With QuoteTracker, I have about 65 realtime charts running so I can get pretty good coverage of where the market is going. I currently dedicate a monitor to this. This freestockcharts.com is very nice for looking at individual stocks. I'll add it to my homepage. I guess that I could run them both at the same time though maybe I should consider a fifth monitor.

    Thanks for responses :)

    I know about Ami - it's the software i'm currently using :)

Still - trading stocks is almost dealbraker for me. I think that OSX is not supposed to suit my needs :)
