I have my MBP updating right now and it's been stuck at the same spot (roughly 10%) in the "Configuring Instillation" phase for about 30 minutes.... wth is going on? Never had this happen before.

sometimes updates stall for me at the "validating package" phase. infact, the exact same thing happened to me yesterday when installing the 10.5.4 combine update... just wait and I would think it would install. otherwise try downloading the package you need directly from apple and bypass the software update utility (I have had updates fail in software update before).

Thanks for the tip. Is it safe to power-off the computer since it's just frozen in "configuring installation" then?

unless you're waiting an hour+ I would advise waiting, if it can't install it should give you an error message saying the package is bad or something like that. if it is stalled you could try a force quit apple+opt+esc and if that doesn't work you can power off and try the install again. good luck

Thanks for the tip. I just powered off and downloaded the manual update and it worked :). I think it was because it was downloading the update during that stage, and it was over 500mb.... So downloading it through the site at least let me do things while it was downloading, instead of having a blank screen :)
