So I purchased a brand new copy of Office 2004 student edition for the Mac on August 16 for full price when I bought my MacBook. Now I see that if I had purchased it after September 25, all you have to do is pay $10 for shipping and you get a free upgrade. Really? So, buy it August 16 = you're S.O.L. Buy it one month later = free?
This is so irritating!

Write Steve Ballmer (or Bill Gates) an email and carbon copy Steve Jobs

Hey, not a bad promotion, Microsoft! This gives users more incentive to get Office 2004 now, instead of having to wait three months for Office 2008 to arrive, and having to use NeoOffice because they don't want to buy Office 2004 and have to buy Office 2008 after.
Yeah, its kinda bad for you, okayplayer, but overall, its a good decision by Microsoft to do this. -
as bad as it is, photoshop your receipt, and get your 08 office
cuz i guarantee you they don't call the merchants to find out if the receipt holds true for every single person -
It's kind of like Apple's iPhone price drop
-
Then Microsoft better start handing out $100 store credit
.
-
Ah, if only...I'd go buy Office 2004 just to get MS to cough up $100 store credit
-
They might've, if they had any B&M stores....

Patience is a virtue, or something like that. Seems like Apple likes to apply that to its customers. So basically, slow and steady saves you some money? Anyways, why would you want to buy a piece of software that isnt even optimized for your system... Neo Office is a much better choice until 2008 comes out, and may be better even after the release. Seems like Microsoft is making their software more and more bloated.
my $0.02 -
Whats a B&M store? I'm guessing its like what Apple has with their Apple Stores....but I'd like to know what B&M stands for.
Microsoft should have their own stores....it wouldnt be like an Apple store since Microsoft doesnt make their own laptops but they could display Vista, Office 2007, Zune, XBox 360, all their mouse/keyboard/other hardware products....and SURFACE! -
Then Microsoft would need a name for their Store employees, like "Geniuses"...
DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS. -
B&M store = Brick & Mortar. In other words, a store you actually walk into.

SaferSephiroth The calamity from within
Yea that sucks, but im sorry to say that is reality. At some point they have to establish a cut-off point, you unfortunately happen to be on the SOL side of that point.
